PharmaBase Update
PharmaBase Update is a new regular publication intended to keep pharmacy contractors and their staff up to date with the development of PharmaBase.
PharmaBase Update February 2012 - in this edition we provide a reminder of why PharmaBase was developed, describe the developments which will be made to PharmaBase over the next three months and explain how you can suggest ways to improve and develop the platform.
PharmaBase Update March 2012 - in this edition we describe the developments which will be made to PharmaBase over the next three months and explain how the recent amendments to the NMS module work.
PharmaBase Update May 2012 - in this edition we describe enhancements to the NMS module, which will make it quicker to register patients for the NMS.
What you can do in PharmaBase?
PharmaBase lets you:
1) Manage the provision of the New Medicine Service (NMS) in your pharmacy and contribute to developing the evidence base for this service;
2) Track and record your compliance with NHS pharmacy contract requirements (the PSNC Contract Workbook);
3) Complete a pre-visit questionnaire before your PCT’s contract monitoring visit (Community Pharmacy Assurance Framework);
4) Make records for a range of Enhanced services consultations and submit claims for payment to your service commissioner (where your service commissioner has agreed to use PharmaBase). Availalbe modules are:
- Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC)
- Supervised consumption service
- Needle & Syringe Programme (NSP)
- Stop smoking service
- NRT voucher service
- End of month declaration module – a generic module which can be used by commissioners to collect, on a monthly basis, specific data from pharmacies related to local services
Interfacing with PMR systems
From the start of development of PharmaBase, we have been keen to work with the providers of PMR systems in order to explore the opportunities for pharmacy contractors’ PMR data, related to services such as the NMS, to be shared with PharmaBase. This is in order to ensure that the maximum amount of information on pharmacy services is collated via PharmaBase to support the development of the all important evidence base for pharmacy services.
We have had constructive discussions with PMR providers and are continuing to work with them in order to agree a way to allow pharmacy contractors’ NMS data in PMR systems to be shared with PharmaBase, thus removing the need to manually enter data in both systems or the risk that the data is not available to inform the development of the evidence base for the service.
Consolidated data for multiple pharmacy groups
If you are a multiple pharmacy contractor using PharmaBase we can provide you with a portal website to access consolidated information on your pharmacies’ PharmaBase data. For example you can access weekly and monthly reports on NMS activity in your pharmacies.
Please email us with the specified details so we can provide you with access to a portal website.
