CPPE
The New Medicine Service (NMS) programmes from CPPE are part of a range of learning materials which have been developed collaboratively by pharmacy organisations to support the introduction of the service. The learning materials consist of an open learning programme, a local solutions workshop and a CPPE e-learning video wall. All the materials have been designed to help you become a pharmacist leader in the setting up of a new medicine service in your practice, offering consistently high levels of patient care.
New Medicine Service open learning programme
This programme aims to provide you with an understanding of the purpose and scope of the service. On completing the programme you will be able to write a personal action plan to support you and your pharmacy team in delivering a patient-centred, effective new medicine service, as part of your day-to-day practice.
There will be a national mailing of this programme to all pharmacists and preregistration pharmacy trainees to arrive by 7th September. Copies will also be available to order for pharmacy technicians and for those who misplace them. This open learning programme is essential pre-reading for the local solutions workshop.

New Medicine Service local solutions workshop
This local solutions workshop can be used at a local level to provide training on the new service. The materials have been designed to help you become a pharmacist leader in the setting up of a new medicine service in your practice, offering consistently high levels of patient care. This workshop is designed to familiarise you and your teams with the new medicine service. It aims to give you an opportunity to practise the skills necessary to deliver an effective service. If you want to run a workshop you can order workshop booklets by emailing info@cppe.ac.uk with your details, the number required and preferred delivery address.
New Medicine Service e-learning video wall
The video wall offers a walk through the service from recruiting a patient and taking consent to the follow-up consultation. You can also listen to a GP, a patient, the original researchers and leaders talk about the service.
Other learning and training opportunities
Other learning programmes and workshops are being developed to support pharmacists and their teams to implement the changes to the community pharmacy contract; details of learning opportunities that PSNC is aware of are listed below.
Many LPCs are organising local training events - contact your LPC to ask them if they are providing any training opportunities.
