Frequently Asked Questions
My PCT has not provided me with a Signposting guide. Do I have to provide the service?
The PCT needs to provide all its pharmacies with a signposting guide, before they can provide the service.
My PCT wants to provide a signposting guide on a CD-ROM that can be installed on my PMR system. Is that allowed?
When the contract was negotiated it has anticipated that signposting guides would be produced in hard copy format. If a PCT wishes to provide its signposting information in an electronic format, PSNC would suggest it also makes arrangements to produce hard copies for those pharmacies that cannot utilise an electronic compendium. Many pharmacy PMR software suppliers advise their customers not to load any third party software onto PMR systems, as experience has shown that there can sometimes be interference with the PMR system. Once all pharmacies have broadband internet access, it may be easier for PCTs to provide signposting information on a website.
