New PSNC Prescription Charge Card

PSNC has produced a new prescription charge card for use in community pharmacies. The new NHS prescription charge is £7.20 for each medicine or appliance. A copy will be sent out to all community pharmacies with the lastest edition of Community Pharmacy News, and it can also be downloaded by clicking the link below.

Non-NHS pharmacy contractors will be able to purchase hard copies of the prescription charge card from PSNC for a cost of £3. Contact the PSNC admin team on 01296 432 823 for more information.

From April 2009 patients undergoing treatment for cancer or for the affects of cancer will be able to apply for a medical exemption certificate to exempt them from prescription charges. Patients will be able to apply for medical exemption certificates using application form FP92A (January 2009 revision) which they can get from their GP surgery or oncology centre. Exemption certificates will be backdated one month from the date the application is received but cannot start before 1 April in respect of the cancer exemption.

Patients entitled to exemption due to their Tax Credit Status may not always receive an NHS Tax Credit Exemption Certificate. If the patient can produce a Tax Credit award notice or decision letter showing annual income of £15,276 or less then this is also sufficient evidence to show their exemption from prescription charges.

If you haven't received CPN by the 5th of April please contact the PSNC Admin team on 01296 432823.
