Local meetings to improve GP/pharmacist relationships
The pharmacy White Paper tasked NHS Employers with forming a group to discuss pharmacy and GP working relationships and how these might be improved in order to benefit patient care.
The group, made up of representatives of NHS Employers, PSNC and the General Practitioner Committee of the BMA, has met on a number of occasions over recent months to discuss the issue. One approach to improving local working relationships that the group is proposing to Local Pharmaceutical Committees and Local Medical Committees is the organisation of meetings of the two professions to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The three organisations have today written to LPC, LMCs, community pharmacists and GPs suggesting this approach be taken at a local level. A copy of the letter can be downloaded here.
