The RPSGB are hosting 2 conferences in March 2009 which may be of interest to community pharmacists.
Travel Medicines - Moving Practice Forward - 12 March at the RPSGB, London
The conference aims to:
- Introduce delegates to education and training initiatives in travel medicine.
- Equip delegates with an understanding of the need for risk assessment and use of appropriate resources in the Travel Health Consultation.
- Allow delegates to hear expert opinion on complex issues in travel medicine.
- Enable delegates to discuss best practice in administration of POMs in the travel consultation.

Traditional herbal medicines - opportunities and challenges in a changing regulatory environment - 6 March at the RPSGB, London
The conference aims to:
- Bring together regulators, industry and consumer representatives to discuss the current situation surrounding the registration of herbal medical products.
- Discuss research and development needs for herbal medical products under the framework of the changing regulatory environment, in particular, the implications of recent changes to the British regulations for herbal medical products for industry and pharmaceutical research.
- Update pharmacists and other health-care professionals from all sectors on the changing UK herbal regulatory environment.
- Inform a wider scientific audience about the requirements for safe and high-quality herbal medicinal products.
- Provide delegates with an understanding of the perspectives of regulators and industry and also discuss the views and needs of all stakeholders.
